Catalan corporation CLD contracts Surtruck for 20 tankers and 15 pressure washers for its pioneering, noise-free street cleaning technology.

They will be the first international cleaning vehicles to be 200% electric: double capacity and double autonomy.

Surtruck has started the year with a major order from the Catalan corporation CLD, part of the Sorigue group, based on its commitment to technology. It is to manufacture 20 tanks and 15 pressure washers, including 10 pure electric vehicles, i.e. with electric traction, which will be the first international irrigation vehicles to be electric both in terms of traction and in terms of spray equipment. This means that Surtruck’s technological development of the vehicles, known as ECO-cleaning, for which the Sevillian company has been a pioneer in electric cleaning with batteries, has taken another step forward, which has been highly valued by the Catalan company CLD.

The order, which will be served throughout 2022, alone represents half of Surtruck’s annual turnover in the area of cleaning and is in addition to previous orders from other companies for Catalonia, which will mean that by the end of this year more than 60 cleaning vehicles with the Surtruck logo will be circulating in the Catalan capital.

Surtruck’s Commercial Director of Road Cleaning, Antonio Venegas, has highlighted the company’s satisfaction with an order that will be served throughout 2022 and demonstrates the confidence shown by CLD in pure electric vehicles. “This is a unique development, developed by our engineers, which will make 100% electric vehicles obsolete because our vehicles have double autonomy, as they do not need the vehicle’s energy to carry out watering. This reduces costs, because the vehicle has the irrigation batteries while still having autonomy for its displacement; it reduces the environmental impact, given that with fewer batteries the same work operations can be carried out; it boosts energy savings and economy, by reducing costs by 20% because fewer lithium battery modules are needed; and it provides greater safety at work because the operator works with water using 48-volt batteries, which reduces occupational hazards”.

Venegas stresses how important it is for Surtruck that a company as solid as CLD, with more than 130 years of experience, almost all of which, 85 years to be precise, have been dedicated to the management of urban services, has opted for the latest technology for street cleaning in the city of Barcelona. CLD is one of the leading environmental operators in Catalonia and provides collection and street cleaning services to more than 2.3 million people in 67 municipalities. Recently, a representation of the corporation visited Surtruck’s facilities to see the installations, the type of machinery that will be used in the order and to see in situ the manufacturing process that will be followed to respond to a production that is already underway.
