Surtruck has sent to Hannover one of the first fully electric fire fighting vehicles to be manufactured in Germany. It is a fire engine called Eco-Fire, which is the result of Surtruck’s Engineering and R&D Department and offers maximum performance with the particularity of being totally autonomous, as it does not take energy from the vehicle.
Surtruck’s Commercial Director for Fire Fighting, Manuel Santana, emphasised that the Eco-Fire is a very complete and sustainable vehicle, “which complies with 18/46 regulations. Although it can be mounted on different chassis, we have chosen a FUSO and we are grateful to Mercedes for having given us their support to body the vehicle for the Fair”.
Interschutz takes place from Monday 20th to Saturday 25th June in Germany and is the leading trade fair for safety, which every five years showcases the latest innovations in the sector. Surtruck is therefore very pleased to bring this recently completed vehicle to the show.
Fire-fighting vehicles with these characteristics are not yet practically commercialised in Spain, and in Europe they are very scarce. “But at Surtruck we know that this is the trend: to use vehicles that do not pollute. That’s why we haven’t stopped until we have achieved a one hundred percent autonomous model that doesn’t depend on fuel”, he explains.
Together with the Eco-Fire, Surtruck is taking to Hannover one of the BULs manufactured for the Cadiz Firefighters Consortium and a VAT for the Jaen City Council, something that has been possible “thanks to the generosity of our customers, the Cadiz Consortium and the Jaen City Council. A gesture that allows us to show anyone who wants to see our manufacturing system and the evolution that our vehicles have undergone,” he says.
The BUL of Cádiz has served as a reference due to its reduced dimensions, which are very important for fire-fighting work in the narrow urban centres of cities. The Technical Assistance Vehicle, better known as VAT, is designed for the participation of the agents in rescues. The VAT is capable of carrying six firefighters and their crew in a single vehicle, allowing them to start their work on the operation as soon as they get out of the vehicle.
Both the BUL and the VAT have become the great allies of the safety of professionals with their small dimensions. And all these vehicles are characterised by minimal emissions. This is the result of Surtruck’s line of work. An effort that has earned it the Reduzco carbon footprint certification awarded by the Ministry for Ecological Transition, in its commitment to sustainability. Something that is sure to be highly valued by customers at this international trade fair.
