The marker of Surtruck’s 100% electric fire fighting vehicle, a fire engine called Eco-Fire, is demonstrating every day that its pump is capable of pumping water at low pressure non-stop and at full capacity during the entire opening hours of the exhibition, more than 9 hours. This process is achieved thanks to its 48-volt lithium batteries, which is the voltage considered safe according to Royal Decree 614/2001. The batteries of this equipment are totally independent of the chassis, and interchangeable if necessary. This means that the autonomy of the vehicle could be unlimited and the batteries would only have to be replaced when they were indicating it, or they could be supported from an external source while the extinguishing is being done.
This totally electric vehicle drive system is an innovation achieved by Surtruck’s R&D department that complies with the UNE EN 1846 standard and has surprised the professionals who visited the stand. The regulation establishes that it must offer 4 hours of autonomy, a figure that is amply surpassed with the external support recharging system. Tests carried out at the Fair have shown that the stipulated figure can be doubled.
Firefighters and experts from the fire-fighting sector who came to the stand were delighted to see the vehicle working in situ without it stopping, with the particularity that they were able to manipulate it at will as if they were at a fire.
The Eco-Fire is also arousing the interest of the mining sector due to the possibilities it offers as it is totally electric and does not need any type of combustion engine, something that is typical of this 100% electric vehicle.
This fact and the technology of the other two vehicles on display at the stand, one of the BULs manufactured for the Cadiz Fire Brigade Consortium and a VAT (Technical Assistance Vehicle) for the Jaen City Council, have consolidated Surtruck as a benchmark for R&D at the international trade fair, which is held every five years and where Surtruck exhibited for the first time, being the only fire-fighting manufacturer to have its own stand at Interschutz.
The small dimensions of the other two vehicles on display, the VAT and the BUL, open up many possibilities for security professionals in narrow city centres and monumental areas that are difficult to access. Surtruck is a pioneer in the manufacture of these vehicles of reduced dimensions, and what has attracted the most attention at the fair is the fact that the vehicles have the same features as the larger ones, but in practically half the space. A design that has surprised a lot and is in line with Surtruck’s objective: to offer maximum safety and comfort to those who help to assist. A challenge that is carried out in the most sustainable way and that has led the company to obtain the Compenso carbon footprint label awarded by the Ministry for Ecological Transition. This recognition certifies Surtruck’s commitment to sustainability and is leaving its mark on Interschutz.
