Surtruck wanted to commemorate World Water Day with the work it has been doing to reduce water consumption. That is why it has chosen to present its new fully electric equipment to the whole of Spain, which reduces water consumption by more than 40% for its cleaning tasks. The place chosen was the municipality where they have been manufactured, La Rinconada, with which the company has also signed an agreement for the training and employment of young people.
The two vehicles presented are fully electric ECO-Cleaning prototypes with low water consumption. They are two state-of-the-art Volvo and Fuso electric chassis-mounted cleaning vehicles, one specially designed for narrow streets and the other for large tonnage. They are electrically driven with low consumption pumps of 25 Bar and 9 cubic metres per hour. The two units are the same, the difference between them being the chassis on which they are mounted: an electric Volvo FL 42, with an 8,000 litre water tank, and a 9 tonne e-Fuso Canter with a 4,000 litre tank. Hence, one is designed for narrow streets and the other is a heavy-duty vehicle.
Another of the most valued aspects of this equipment is that it works at 48 volts, making it completely safe for operators. In addition to this, they offer autonomy, as the irrigation system has its own batteries, so its operation is totally independent of the chassis and the autonomy of the vehicle.
BOOSTING EMPLOYMENT
The presentation of the vehicles was attended by Rafael Reyes Soriano, Deputy Mayor for General Services, Public Infrastructures and Major Festivities of La Rinconada Town Council, and Antonio Venegas, Director of Street Cleaning at Surtruck, who announced the collaboration agreement that has just been signed between the Sevillian company and the Town Council to train unemployed young people from the town so that they can apply for a job at Surtruck.
ECO-CLEANING
In cleaning, Surtruck has been a pioneer in the design and manufacture of its ECO-Cleaning cleaning equipment, with which it cleans and sweeps the streets of the main cities in Spain, such as Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Burgos, Mallorca, Santa Cruz de Tenerife and many more. The cisterns and the hydro-cleaning equipment use lithium batteries and an intelligent recharging system that extends their autonomy, while consuming less water, something that has led companies in the Arab Emirates to start investing in the Sevillian technology.
Surtruck’s commitment to the environment extends to the reduction of its carbon footprint, which it has just offset in Andalusia, with a burnt area project at Finca El Vinagre, in the province of Huelva, together with another initiative in India. A work that Surtruck has been carrying out for 9 years without interruption and for which it received a few days ago the Compenso certificate from the Ministry of Ecological Transition for the financial year 2022.
