Surtruck is in the process of renewing its carbon footprint. To this end, it is in the process of calculating the results obtained from applying the new parameters based on the strategies it has adopted in the production of cleaning and fire-fighting vehicles, which have reinforced its commitment to the environment with the maximum possible reduction in pollution.
Reducing its carbon footprint is a challenge that Surtruck has set itself since its inception, when, in 2015, it decided to go for this label, something that is also unusual in its sector, given that currently very few companies in its sector have this environmental certification that reinforces its action against climate change.
True to its commitment to the environment, Surtruck has been renewing its presence in the National Carbon Footprint Register of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITERD) every year, which has awarded the company the official seal that ratifies Surtruck’s commitment to mitigating climate change, given that every year the company reduces its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
According to Antonio Venegas, Sales Director for Road Cleaning and Thermosolar O&M, “we are currently recalculating our carbon footprint because Surtruck’s commitment to the environment is not only firm, but is also one of the hallmarks of our products. Every year we make a little more effort and this is precisely what we are working on now, quantifying what we have achieved”.
With the technical advice of the company Ecoterrae, Surtruck designed an Emission Reduction and Compensation Plan to reduce its carbon footprint. In fact, the company’s general manager, Daniel García Lázaro, together with the head of Business Development, Octavio Acosta, and the consultant Abilio Caetano, visited Surtruck’s facilities in mid-July to lay the foundations for the new calculation.
Last year, the company managed to reduce its carbon footprint by 15%, which is equivalent to avoiding the average energy consumption of a household in Spain for a whole year. These days, the parameters achieved are being analysed according to the plan of emission reduction and compensation measures implemented, a verdict that will be sent to the Registry for evaluation and assessment.
