Surtruck has just celebrated its first decade of existence. The company, a benchmark in the sector of vehicles with cleaning and fire extinguishing equipment for bodywork innovative equipment, already has teams in all geographical points of Spain, Latin America and the United Arab Emirates, among other places.
The manager of the company, Juan Gallego, explained that “from being an exciting idea that six people started, Surtruck is today a company that has 70 employees on staff that would allow us to expand the various departments to be prepared to manage new staff additions. This decade has helped us to make the kind of vehicles that we dreamed of and that our customers demanded. In fact, we have 6 patents and utility patents, in addition to several homologations”.
The investment made in R&D&I has been very important during this decade, achieving a turnover level of around 10 million euros per year only with the development of new products. The company considers that, after this commitment, it is now the turn of exponential growth, expected to reach 120 million euros, which is the target for the next 10 years. To this end, the initial 3,000 square meters of the Alcalá de Guadaíra headquarters have been increased from 3,000 square meters to the current 10,000 square meters in La Rinconada and Madrid, to which a new headquarters in Barcelona has just been added, and another one, later on, in the Levante area.
Appointments
To drive this growth, Surtruck has redesigned its sales department and has just appointed Antonio Venegas, who had been in this position but only in the Cleaning area. The new manager confirms this spirit of growth as a priority: “The time has come to grow. In this first decade we have been more focused on designing the products we wanted and on establishing the structure, the different departments…. Now we have made a firm commitment to commercial expansion with an increase in the department that is leading us to the progressive opening of new branches, which will drive our growth strategy”.
As a result of the new design of the commercial department promoted by Antonio Venegas, Surtruck has just opened a delegation in Barcelona, has hired a foreign trade agent who will be in charge of piloting the international expansion and has reinforced its headquarters in Madrid with the hiring of José Julián María Díaz as the new commercial delegate. The delegation in Madrid will be, precisely, the epicenter of the national expansion.
Innovation and EcoCleaning
Since its inception, Surtruck has been committed to transforming narrow vehicles in the firefighting sector, certifying and homologating the world’s first smallest BUL light urban pumps, the only ones that are operational in certain very narrow streets in historic city centers, in addition to being an ideal design as a first intervention vehicle according to the firefighting services themselves. And, within the security forces, its innovations led it to present the first all-electric vehicle at the Interschutz 2022 trade fair in Hanover. An electrically autonomous truck-mounted unit that complied with the EN 1846 standard specific to the firefighting safety sector.
The commitment to sustainability was called EcoCleaning in 2016 and is today one of Surtruck’s main hallmarks. This electric system of cleaning vehicles has made them essential in cities that bet on extreme cleanliness, sustainability and savings at the same time, being present throughout the national geography and Arab Emirates, where it has surprised a lot that, for cleaning tasks, sound emissions, pollutant emissions, maintenance and fuel costs are reduced. In addition, the company is committed to reducing water consumption by at least 40% in all its equipment without losing efficiency.
And it is precisely the international success of a company that has always carried the name of Seville and Andalusia by flag, which has marked one of the lines of work for the decade that Surtruck has just released: internationalization. Hence, along with the Middle East, the company is also preparing its landing in Latin America, where it is already known in various municipalities and by local companies.
Likewise, seeking a complete service for its customers, the equipment line is complementary to the supply of bodywork vehicles, having the commercial exclusivity of leading brands in the sector and having auxiliary products for both cleaning and extinguishing services. In fact, orders are served with the most modern firefighting ladders, textile hoses, filters, floating pumps, high-precision extinguishing equipment, lances, accessories, pumps, vacuum cleaners, gum or paint removal systems, vacuum cleaners, electric tricycles and a long etcetera.
In addition, Surtruck has practiced sustainability by example and since its inception has measured its carbon footprint, which it has been offsetting with local and international projects for the past three years. All this without forgetting those who need it most, with donations to the Food Bank, among other solidarity actions.
Roberto Melgarejo, President of Surtruck
It has been an intense decade, “ahead of innovation”, as its start-up slogan put it. A maxim that became the new emblem coined for the coming years and those to come: “10 years designing the future”. Surtruck is now entering a new phase in which it seeks to make the most of this first decade by laying the foundations and designing all the operating protocols: staff training so that the workforce is increasingly qualified, advances in research and patents, work on improving developments and homologating them to advance the sector… a starting point that places the company in a privileged scenario for the new decade after the titanic effort of a firm that was born from scratch by a new business vision that believed in innovation and that things could be done in the sector more efficiently, ecologically and thinking about the cleaning and emergency services. Time and the spirit of improvement did the rest and today Surtruck enjoys its birthday with the illusion of continuing to grow, but above all with the responsibility of not ceasing research to continue designing the future.
