In a few days, four more and five pressure washers will be delivered.

Surtruck is making progress in the delivery of the order for sustainable and 200 % electric cleaning vehicles, with double capacity and autonomy, requested by the Catalan corporation CLD, part of the Sorigué group, which is based on its commitment to technology. Of the total order to manufacture 20 tanks and 15 pressure washers, 10 are pure electric vehicles, i.e. with electric traction, which will go down in history as the first international irrigation vehicles that are electric both in terms of traction and in terms of sweeping equipment.

According to Antonio Venegas, Surtruck’s Commercial Director of Road Cleaning, a few weeks ago, ten tanks were delivered and are already watering and sweeping the streets of Barcelona. This production will soon be joined by four more tanks to complete the order with the remaining five pressure washers before the end of 2022.

CLD has opted, in its order, for pure electric vehicles. This unique development, developed by Surtruck’s R&D&I department, gives the vehicles double autonomy, as they do not need the energy of the vehicle engine to irrigate. This fact reduces costs, because the equipment has the batteries for irrigation while still having autonomy for its displacement; reduces the environmental impact, since with fewer batteries the same work operations can be done; boosts energy savings and economy, by reducing costs by 20% because not so many lithium battery modules are needed; and gives more job security because the operator works with water using 48-volt batteries, which reduces occupational hazards.

Venegas highlights the importance for Surtruck that a company as solid as CLD, with more than 130 years of experience, 85 of which have been dedicated to the management of urban services, bets on Andalusian technology. CLD is one of the leading environmental operators in Catalonia and provides collection and street cleaning services to more than 2.3 million people in 67 municipalities.
