Custom-designed to the required specifications, the first 6 units were presented at a protocol ceremony.

The first narrow fire fighting vehicles manufactured by Surtruck are already on the road in the province of Cadiz. The company from Seville has delivered the first six units of an order for 23 BULs (Light Urban Fire Fighting Vehicles) with which the Cadiz Consortium will completely renew its vehicle fleet. The Surtruck production plant is finalising the next six units, which will be delivered in the next few days, while the remaining eleven will be manufactured throughout the year 2022.

The delivery ceremony for the first six units was attended, among others, by the president of the Cadiz Firefighters’ Consortium, Francisco Vaca, and the president of the Cadiz Provincial Council, Irene García. Representing Surtruck were its manager, Juan Gallego, the head of the Workshop, Francisco Algaba, the Director of Fire Fighting, Manuel Santana, and the Director of Products, Teresa Gentil.

The aim of the Consortium’s order for the vehicles was to have very narrow BULs equipped with all the material required by the emergency service, which could operate in the narrowest streets of the province’s urban centres, but which had certain technical specifications and dimensions. To this end, a technical committee was set up to supervise each modification, while at the same time establishing the specifications. The result has led to improvements for the BULs, such as a 360º recording vision system, a thousand-litre water tank with a pressure regulator that guarantees a constant flow of water at both low and high pressure, a width of two metres and a turning radius between kerbs of 5.2 metres and, what will be highly valued in emergency situations, less noise and vibrations, something that allows professionals to communicate with each other naturally, together with the pump station itself, while the intervention is being carried out.

The president of the Fire Brigade Consortium, Francisco Vaca, expressed his satisfaction with the arrival of these vehicles and the fact that the company awarded the contract was an Andalusian company. Vaca highlighted the effort made to ensure that, despite the difficulties suffered this year due to the crisis in materials, all the objectives set have been met.

The President of the Provincial Council, Irene García, highlighted the fact that the fire engines have been designed by the professionals of the provincial fire service to adapt to the specific needs of the requirements in the historic centres of the localities of Cádiz. García also emphasised that they are among the most advanced and complete of those found in the fire services, both nationally and internationally.

Surtruck, for its part, has expressed its satisfaction with the confidence shown in the Sevillian firm, a pioneer in the manufacture of narrow vehicles and the only one on the market that has the official certifications developed in the vehicle for its specific use in the fire-fighting sector.
