The Cadiz Provincial Fire Brigade Consortium has awarded Surtruck S.L. the construction of 23 vehicles that will be available for use over the next two years. These are lightweight urban pumps (LUP) that have a special width designed to work in urban environments and meet the needs of Cadiz municipalities, and which are a qualitative leap forward compared to those that already exist on the market.
The total cost of the operation is 4.5 million euros and it has been awarded by public tender, as approved by the contracting board of the Cadiz Provincial Fire Brigade Consortium on 29 October. The agreement was signed by the President of the Consortium, Francisco Vaca, and Gonzalo Melgarejo Martínez de Abellanosa, administrator of Surtruck.
The new vehicles represent a technological advance as they have equipment designed exclusively by Surtruck, a company with 100% Andalusian capital and headquartered in La Rinconada (Seville).
Thus, the BULs that are going to start manufacturing immediately, as the contract was signed this Tuesday 29th December, have a 360º recording vision system, a thousand litre water tank with a pressure regulator that guarantees a constant flow of water at both low and high pressure, a width of two metres and a turning radius between kerbs of 5.2 metres.
These vehicles are also designed with special aluminium profiles and patented by Surtruck, which eliminate unnecessary weight but maintain safety levels for the emergency services, as they comply with all current regulations. (UNE 18146-1; UNE 18146-2; UNE 18146-3). This system also allows the aluminium panels to act both as a supporting structure and as a guide for the anchoring and coupling of the equipment.
The water pump included in each vehicle allows for uninterrupted operation without noise or vibration. Finally, they have all the safety measures approved for the professionals who will use them in emergency situations: seats with supports for autonomous breathing equipment, safety belt anchorages, safety belts and motor vehicle restraint systems, as well as the strength of the seats and their anchorage.
